It’s National Vegetarian Week!

This week is National Vegetarian Week (16th – 22nd May) and to celebrate, we’re rounding up our tastiest vegetarian recipes!

An initiative by the Vegetarian Society, National Vegetarian Week is all about highlighting tasty dishes free from meat. It looks at the traditions behind the food we eat and draws attention to the various meat-free options on offer.

At Mammy Jamia’s we will be spotlighting one recipe each day and all will feature our innovative new dressings, available in three fruity flavours – Balsamic and Strawberry, Plum and Ginger, and Balsamic and Fig. Each of the dressings have their own distinct qualities and are so versatile that they can be used as a dress, dip or marinade.

Our dressings have been shortlisted in this year’s Veggie Awards and are ideal for vegetarians looking to liven up otherwise bland dishes. They are stocked in Waitrose stores, on waitrose.com and will be in Morrisons stores from June 27th.

 

Strawberry Marinated Halloumi
Serves 4

Ingredients
Halloumi
Mammy Jamia’s Balsamic and Strawberry Dressing

  • Cut the halloumi into 5mm thick slices and place in an air tight container.
  • Pour over the Balsamic and Strawberry dressing ensuring that the halloumi is completely covered. Leave in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight if possible.
  • Place the halloumi on a hot BBQ (or on a griddle pan) cook on both sides for about 3-4 minutes or until the halloumi has softened and coloured.
  • Remove from the BBQ and enjoy!
