New to Asda and Booths, Mammy Jamia’s Ginger Preserve is a stunning spicy jam inspired by a family recipe.
Made by an award winning producer in the Garden of England, it is perfect served on hot crunchy toast or buttery crumpets, dolloped into a fruit cake or sticky ginger cake mixture or used to make a raspberry and ginger compote (see recipe below).
Mammy Jamia’s Ginger Preserve costs £2.39 for a 340g jar and is available in 29 Booths stores and 25 Asda stores in London.
The ginger jam was created by husband and wife team Andrew and Sajmira Cairns. The couple from the Wirral started creating their own jams after discovering an original recipe passed through Sajmira’s family – hence the name Mammy Jamia’s.
Andrew, 35, says: ‘We’re hoping to transform the jam market by introducing new and unusual flavours. We think people are ready to move away from traditional strawberry and raspberry jam flavours and try something different.’
‘We take great pride in the quality of our products and all the ingredients are carefully sourced and selected before being made by an award winning producer in Kent.’
Mammy Jamia Recipes – Raspberry and Ginger compote
Ingredients: Fresh raspberries, Mammy Jamia’s Ginger Preserve
Method: Put ginger preserve into small saucepan over a low heat and stir until runny. Add washed raspberries and keep stirring until raspberries have disappeared into the sauce. Keep over a low heat and stir until sauce has reduced. Leave to cool and serve with Greek yogurt and a side serving of raspberries and blueberries. This is such a quick and easy recipe and takes all the work out of using fresh ginger and then having to add sugar. The compote is also good with pancakes.
