Mammy Jamia’s Rhubarb Preserve is a deliciously thick and fruity jam inspired by a family recipe.
It is lovely served on hot buttery toast, between warmed scones with clotted cream, as a fruity topping to Greek yogurt and spread thickly between a Victoria sponge.
The preserve is now available in Waitrose stores and costs £2.39 for a 340g jar. It is also available in Tesco stores.
The Sunday Times Style Magazine said of it: ‘Rhubarb jam – the big middle class obsession, to be eaten with everything. The best one is Mammy Jamia’s.’
The rhubarb jam was created by husband and wife team Andrew and Sajmira Cairns. The couple from the Wirral started creating their own jams after discovering an original recipe passed through Sajmira’s family – hence the name Mammy Jamia’s.
Andrew, 35, says: ‘We’re hoping to transform the jam market by introducing new and unusual flavours. We think people are ready to move away from traditional strawberry and raspberry jam flavours and try something different.’
