Mammy Jamia’s is a wonderfully delicious range of unique, award-winning products.

Founded in 2010 by Andrew and Sajmira Cairns, Mammy Jamia’s is based on a family recipe, passed down by Sajmira’s Albanian mother, Jamia. The Cheshire-based family have since had their exciting and innovative range of products snapped up by supermarkets in the UK and around the world.

The story began when Andrew and Sajmira began recreating some of Jamia’s preserve recipes at home in Cheshire. They organised for 600 jars of fig, apple and pear jams to be made and when they sold them for the first time at their local food market, they all quickly sold out.

Buoyed by their early success, the couple sent off samples to a number of supermarkets, with Sainsbury’s and Waitrose being the first to list them. In its first year of trading, Mammy Jamia’s sold 103,000 jars of its preserves and had a turnover of £250,000. Today, the company has a growing range of premium products, manufactured and distributed by Kent-based Opies.

Today, the family’s range is stocked in leading supermarkets in the UK including Waitrose and Booths as well as Amazon and an increasing number of international stockists.

The growing range of premium products consists

Mammy Jamia’s founder, Andrew, is a member of the prestigious GS1 UK supervisory board. GS1 standards make it easy to do business globally using a unique set of identification numbers for products, companies, locations, services, assets, logistics units or customers at any point in the supply chain.

As well as her mother’s recipes being the inspiration for the business, Sajmira brings some real brains to the business.

Her role as a performance analyst for the investment bank Rathbones has helped her hone keen financial analytical skills which she has used to help develop the Mammy Jamia’s business.

Andrew’s brother, Matt Cairns and his wife Sophie, joined the business in 2013 after Matt retired from a distinguished career playing rugby for Harlequins. The former hooker made 30 appearances for his club and was also capped by England in 2007 against South Africa.

Sophie, a talented baker, is now on the team and has been busy working on some delicious and exciting combinations of Mammy Jamias treats. Together Sajmira and Sophie head up New Product Development for Mammy Jamia’s and have some very exciting ideas for new products lines to be introduced to the MJ’s family.
